Our designers focus on optimising the longevity of each product while ensuring innovation. We prioritise using sustainable materials, such as FSC™-certified wood and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100-certified fabrics.
Certifications
GRS - The Global Recycled Standard
Unique is certified to the GRS Standard certified by Control Union 1258910. Products certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) contain recycled material that has been independently verified at each stage of the supply chain, from the source to the final product. In addition, facilities from the source to final supplier have met social, environmental, and chemical requirements.
FSC™ – Forest Stewardship Council™
At Unique, we are deeply committed to sustainability and the responsible management of the world's forests. As part of this commitment, we actively support the principles and criteria set forth by the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC ™). By upholding FSC standards, we aim to positively impact global forests and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. We are dedicated to creating beautiful designs by upholding ethical practices, maintaining high standards of quality, ensuring worker safety, and considering environmental impacts. We continuously strive to improve our value chain and seek new perspectives on sustainability across all our operations.
Extensive Quality Control and the Highest Standards
Our quality assurance team ensures all products meet the highest standards in construction and packaging. Our designs are tested to comply with some of the world’s most stringent quality standards. Our packaging adheres to ISTA standards to ensure the safe arrival of the package’s contents.
Responsible fabrics
Our aim is to use sustainable fabrics, and we strive to have all our fabrics certified by OEKO-TEX®. This certification ensures textiles are tested for over 300 substances that could harm both health and the environment. We are continuously working toward certifying our entire fabric collection.
amfori BSCI
We are a member of amfori, which bases its work on a common Code of Conduct. The amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) code of contains 13 principles, such as the prohibition of child labour, forced labour, corruption and discrimination, and has requirements to ensure working conditions and employees' rights to set up trade unions.
The amfori Business Environmental Monitoring Initiative (BEPI)
amfori BEPI is built on the values outlined in established due diligence and environmental frameworks, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Sustainable Business Conduct.
As an international environmental management system, amfori BEPI helps businesses identify and address environmental risks within their supply chains. The environmental risk analysis covers up to eight key Environmental Performance Areas including environmental management systems, energy and climate, water and effluents, emissions to air, waste, chemicals, biodiversity, and nuisances.
Through amfori BEPI, Unique Furniture gains valuable insights into these environmental areas and a better understanding of our manufacturers' environmental performance.
Modern Slavery Statement
We comply with all rules and have a zero-tolerance policy regarding social responsibility. We believe that all humans should be treated with respect and accepted for who they are and deny any business that may be operating with modern slavery, human trafficking, corruption, etc. Internally we operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting eligibility to work with customers within the UK.
We regularly conduct training for our buying teams to ensure they realize the signs of modern slavery and what to do when they suspect it is taking place.
